Kuczynski & Mawson Win Desert Classic Places
JOHN KUCZYNSKI and Gary Mawson have joined Darin Young in taking the three automatic US places in the Las Vegas Desert Classic VI.
Young went into last weekend's Charlotte Open having already secured his place in the first round of the Desert Classic on 4 July.
Kuczynski and Mawson will also avoid the qualifiers at Mandalay Bay this summer after edging out Ray Carver to secure the final two spots.
Carver will now enter the qualifiers on 2 and 3 July in the hope of winning one of the 16 places up for grabs in the main tournament.
Roger Carter, who has qualified for the Blue Square UK Open after returning to the professional circuit in the past year, won the Charlotte Open, defeating Isen Veljic 3-1 in the final.
Kuczynski reached the semi-finals to earn enough points to seal his place, with Mawson bettering Carver's position to wrap up third place in the BEN-PRO rankings, compiled over a series of events around America during the year.
