2007 PDC Calendar Confirmation

THE PDC will include new tournaments in America, Germany and Holland on the 2007 Pro Tour.

Approaching £2.5 million will be on offer in 2007 on the PDC circuit, which will include a dedicated series of events in North America and Holland/Belgium.

Three tournaments will also be staged in Germany, including the 100,000 euro German Open in November.

The World Series of Darts will be succeeded by the PDC US Open in May, which will join the Las Vegas Desert Classic as a big-money tournament in the United States.

A Players Championship tournament will also be staged in Las Vegas ahead of the Desert Classic VI, with the planned calendar of events now announced.

A total of 28 Pro Tour events are included in this schedule, offering a minimum of £20,000 per tournament.

"This is a very exciting development for the sport of darts," said PDC Chief Executive Tim Darby.

"It is great that we are able to include long-standing supporters of the PDC such as Windy City, Antwerp and Holland in our future, as well as new events in Las Vegas.

"The expansion of professional darts into Germany is a testimony to the great coverage of PDC tournaments on DSF in the past two years.

"The inclusion of the brand new £125,000 PDC US Open in Connecticut, to replace the World Series of Darts after ESPN's decision not to recommission the event, will further strengthen the sport in North America.

"This is the next phase of our global development and we remain committed to expanding the sport of professional darts around the world over the coming years as the PDC continues to lead the way."

The PDC were informed on 21 December that the organisers of the Sarantos Retsinas Memorial tournament have decided not to upgrade to Pro Tour status.
