2008 Premier League Darts Dates Confirmed

TICKETS for the 2008 Premier League Darts will go on sale on Tuesday 16 October as the tournament goes to a number of new arenas around the UK.

Manchester's MEN Arena, Wembley Arena, Coventry's Ricoh Arena and the new Liverpool Echo Arena will host the Premier League for the first time next year, along with the Odyssey Arena in Belfast.

The tournament will begin on Thursday 31 January at Glasgow's SECC before moving on to Plymouth Pavilions and two new venues, Manchester and Coventry.

The BIC in Bournemouth, Nottingham Arena, Sheffield Arena, Brighton Centre, Birmingham NIA and Aberdeen AECC will then play host to the eight superstars before the newly-built Liverpool Echo Arena welcomes darts for a first time on 10 April.

Wembley Arena, Belfast's Odyssey Arena and Newcastle's Metro Radio Arena complete the run of 14 league nights, with the top four players progressing to the play-offs on 26 May at the CIA in Cardiff.

"The tournament has grown enormously each year and we are looking forward to the 2008 Premier League Darts," said PDC Chairman Barry Hearn.

"This year we were able to take the Premier League to arena venues and the response was incredible. Seeing 5,000 fans at Sheffield and Birmingham was tremendous and I'm sure they will come again next year.

"We are delighted to be spreading our wings even further by linking up with famous arenas at Wembley, Belfast and Manchester, along with the new Liverpool Echo Arena, showing the appetite for darts around the UK.

"Over 55,000 tickets will go on sale in October to give fans everywhere the chance to see the best players in the world."

James Wade's win in the Stan James World Matchplay has secured his place in the top six alongside Phil Taylor and Raymond van Barneveld to earn him a spot in the Premier League for a first time next year.

Terry Jenkins, this year's runner-up, and Peter Manley are also favourites to remain in the competition when the first six names are announced following the SkyBet World Grand Prix.

The battle for the final place will be decided in Dublin, with Adrian Lewis, Andy Hamilton, Roland Scholten, Dennis Priestley and Colin Lloyd fighting for an automatic spot.
