Blue Square UK Open - Final Order of Merit

A TOTAL of 104 professional players have qualified to compete in the 2008 Blue Square UK Open Televised Finals.

The eight Regional Finals concluded on Sunday with the Midlands Regional Final, won by Phil Taylor in Telford.

Taylor's wins in the last two Regional Finals earned him top spot in the UK Open Order of Merit, ahead of two other double winners, James Wade and Colin Lloyd.

Alex Roy's run to the last 32 on Sunday earned him a crucial £200 in prize money - moving him up into the top 32 on the UK Open Order of Merit, joining Steve Brown and Jason Clark on £1,800.

Clark - a semi-finalist in the Scottish Regional Final last November - is the unlucky man to drop out of the top 32 on a countback, which looks at prize money won in the last four tournaments, meaning he enters the event at te Second Round stage on Thursday June 5.

The countback rule was also needed to separate the five players tied on £500, with Spanish newcomer Carlos Rodriguez and Steve Maish remaining in the top 64, and Alan Green, Darren Johnson and Dave Ladley in the group of players entering at the First Round stage.

The 40 players ranked from 65 onwards will be joined by the 32 Holsten Pub Qualifiers in the draw for the Preliminary and First Rounds at the Reebok Stadium, Bolton.

The tournament kicks off on Thursday June 5, with the Preliminary, First and Second Rounds taking place. The top 32 come into the event at the Third Round stage on Friday night, with the last 32 and last 16 being played on Saturday.

Sunday June 8 sees the Quarter-Finals, Semi-Finals and Final take place.
