DPA Wins For Fleet & Platt

ANTHONY FLEET and David Platt shared the spoils in the latest DPA events, held at the Northern District Darts Club in Adelaide.

Fleet, the current Australian Grand Prix Order of Merit leader, won his sixth tournament of 2011 with a whitewash of Craig Atze in Saturday's final.

Fleet had also defeated Phil Bottrell, Mark Smyth and Sean Reed - the second-placed star - in the knockout stage of the event.

Atze picked up narrow 6-5 wins over Bill Aitken and Rob Modra in the quarter-finals and semi-finals respectively, before being overpowered by Fleet in the decider.

Platt bounced back from a loss to Reed in the last 16 of Saturday's event by winning through the field to take Sunday's $1,000 title, defeating Adelaide's Allan Ritchie in the final.

Platt led 3-1 and 5-3 before Ritchie hit back to level, but the English-born ace hit scores of 140 and 177 before winning the decider on double four.

He had also knocked out Atze in the last 16, which he followed with a narrow win over Peter Machin in the quarters and a 6-2 defeat of Aitken in the semis.

Reed reached his second semi-final of the weekend before losing 6-4 to Richie.

The next DPA events will be held on July 16 and 17 at the Warilla Bowls Club in New South Wales.
