PDC Aces In Charity Effort

PDC Chairman Barry Hearn and former world number one Colin Lloyd joined up with scores of celebrities as part of a major fund-raising initiative on Monday.

The pair were representing the Haven House children's hospice, who care for children and young people with life-limiting conditions at their hospice in Essex, at the seventh annual BGC Charity Day.

They joined celebrities including Prince Harry, Cherie Blair, presenters Chris Evans, Johnny Vaughan, Lisa Snowdon and Alan Brazil, Rolling Stone Ronnie Wood, chart-topping band One Direction, Peter Andre and former footballers David Ginola, Sir Geoff Hurst, Ossie Ardiles and Pat Jennings in the charity event at BCG's Canary Wharf headquarters.

BGC, then Cantor Fitzgerald, lost 658 employees in the attacks on the World Trade Centre on September 11 2001, and have held a charity day on the anniversary of that tragedy for the past six years.

A total of 25 UK charities and dozens more around the world will benefit from the day - with donations made as part of deals brokered by the celebrities who visited their offices.

That included two deals worth £35 million which PDC Chairman Hearn dealt with during a stint on the trading floor!

"It's a tremendous initiative and I was delighted to represent Haven House along with Colin Lloyd at the BGC Charity Day," said Hearn.

"Although it was great fun to do the deals, I'd never be able to do the job those brokers do!"

Former World Matchplay and World Grand Prix winner Lloyd added: "The BGC Charity Day will make a difference to so many charities in England and around the world, and it's great to be able to help Haven House.

"They do an amazing and much-needed job for these young people and their families, and it's a very worthwhile cause."

Haven House are also the charity partner of World Snooker, for more information visit www.havenhouse.org.uk.
