DEVON PETERSEN has won the South African Masters for a second successive year.
The 25-year-old star from Mitchell's Plain was also the 2010 champion, and will now qualify to compete again in the Ladbrokes World Championship.
After playing at Alexandra Palace, Petersen went on to win a PDC ProTour Card in Qualifying School to become South Africa's first professional player.
He won Saturday's South African Masters event, which was held behind closed doors following obstruction from the WDF-affiliated Darts South Africa body.
Due to their threat to suspend players who competed in the South African Masters from future DSA events for two years, the PDC have also opted not to release the list of competitors from this tournament.
"We congratulate Devon Petersen on his success in the South African Masters and look forward to welcoming him back to the Ladbrokes World Darts Championship in December," said PDC Chief Executive Matthew Porter.
"Devon has proven a great ambassador for South African darts over the past year, and has chosen to try to prove himself full-time on the PDC circuit by basing himself in England for much of the year.
"His commitment has been outstanding and we hope that he can inspire future stars from South Africa to follow his lead.
"We also thank our South African representative Jon McGowan and his helpers for their efforts in staging another successful South Africa Masters, despite the outrageous bullying and threats from the DSA in recent months.
"Jon has worked tirelessly in recent years in a bid to develop darts in South Africa, but has met only obstruction from the DSA, who clearly have no desire to grow the game and seek merely to protect their own interests.
"For this reason, we will not announce the names of players who competed alongside Devon to hopefully help enable them to continue playing without sanction."
