Wembley Warrior Lifts FA Cup!

WORLD number seven darts star Wes Newton got his hands on the famous FA Cup ahead of his Ladbrokes World Darts Championship second round game with Justin Pipe.

Fleetwood Town fan Newton showed his support for the club ahead of their massive local derby with Blackpool in the Third Round of the FA Cup with Budweiser on January 7 with a visit to Wembley Stadium.

The UK Open finalist was able to get his hands on the FA Cup trophy, and admits that seeing his own football club win in the FA Cup next month and for him to become World Champion would be a dream start to 2012.

"It's awesome to come to Wembley and lift the FA Cup - there's not many people from Fleetwood that have been able to do that yet!" said Newton.

"For Town to play Blackpool will be massive - it's the biggest game we've ever had and I can't wait.

"I've got a season ticket and follow them wherever I can, and I only live just down the road from the ground.

"I've already got my tickets for the Blackpool game and it would be fantastic to be able to parade the World Championship trophy in front of the Cod Army on January 7, but I've got a few hard games ahead of me first.

"If I had to choose between Fleetwood beating Blackpool or me winning the World Championship, I'd have to say me winning the World Championship - but it would be amazing for both to happen!"

Newton comes up against one of the sport's form players in the last 32 at Alexandra Palace, with Pipe having won six of the final ten Players Championships this year in his rise into the world's top 32.

"Justin's had a great year and his confidence is really high at the moment," said Newton. "He's playing brilliantly at the moment and I know how hard it will be, but I'm ready for him.

"This is the biggest tournament in the world and hopefully the best will come out of me in the next week.

"I've had a good couple of years but I still don't think I've played my best game on TV yet and I feel there's a lot to come from me.

"You learn something from every game and I'm still learning, and I think that will make me a better player.

"There's something special about the World Championship that makes you try harder than you should, but I just try to tell myself that it's just another game, even though deep down you know it's not."
