THE UK Qualifier for the first European Tour event was staged at the Barnsley Metrodome on Friday night, with the final 20 places in the £81,200 event on offer.
A total of 62 players took part in the tournament, with Warwickshire's Prakash Jiwa performing superbly by winning two successive games 6-0 - against Mick McGowan and Steve Maish - to win his place in Austria later this month.
Young stars Arron Monk, Michael Smith and Joe Cullen all won their places, as well as new PDC ProTour Card Holders Dean Winstanley, Richie Howson, Jim Walker, Gaz Cousins, Johnny Haines and Ross Smith.
Former World Championship finalist Mark Dudbridge overcame Michael Barnard 6-5 to edge through, with Ireland's William O'Connor denying experienced Dennis Smith, Ian White defeating Adrian Gray and Darren Webster seeing off Andy Brown in a deciding leg to progress.
Scott Rand, Mick Todd, James Richardson and Brian Woods were the night's other qualifiers for the inaugural European Tour event, but there was no joy for Ted Hankey, who lost to Walker, while Mark Hylton missed double 12 for a nine-dart finish during his defeat to John Scott.
The 20 players who lost in the 'final' games will receive £100 towards the PDC Order of Merit and ProTour Order of Merit.
The UK Qualifier was followed by the draw for the main European Tour event, which sees the world's top 32 players drawn against the 32 qualifiers from the UK, European and Host Nation Qualifiers.
