Haavisto Picks Up SDC Win

JANI HAAVISTO edged past Robert Wagner to take victory in the second Scandinavian Darts Corporation event on Sunday, as Kim Jensen hit a nine-dart finish in the Copenhagen event.

The 25-year-old Finn made amends for his defeat to Jarkko Komula in the final of Saturday's inaugural event by winning the second of eight SDC events which will be open to players from across the region this year.

Haavisto had defeated top Danish pair Per Laursen and Vladimir Andersen on his way to the final, as well as seeing off Ulf Cedar for the second successive day.

He then completed a weekend double over Norway's Wagner by taking a 6-5 victory in the final, meaning that he tops the SDC Order of Merit following the first weekend's events.

Sweden's Magnus Caris reached the semi-finals of the event before losing out to Wagner 6-4, having missed Saturday's event as he competed successfully in the European Qualifier for the second European Tour Event in Germany, where he won a spot in Berlin later this month.

Finland's World Cup of Darts representative Marko Kantele was amongst the quarter-finalists on Sunday, alongside Cedar, Jaako Kiiski and Heikki Hyvonen.

The event also saw Kim F Jensen hit the first nine-darter in an SDC event uring his narrow defeat to Andersen in the last 16.
