Record 301 Leg For Deller

KEITH DELLER set a new World Record for the quickest leg of 301 this week as part of the Great British Beer Festival.

Deller, the 1983 World Champion and a former PDC star, joined five-time World Champion Eric Bristow in apppearing at London's Olympia as part of the Great British Beer Festival.

The pair were joined by Dean Gould, who had set the previous record of finishing a leg of 301 in 36 seconds, with each player having five attempts to surpass that time.

In his final attempt, Gould finished double eight to complete his leg in 33 seconds to create a new World Record - only to see that smashed by eight seconds by Deller.

Deller opened his leg with a 135 score before hitting a 36, but took out 130 on the bull to complete a nine-dart 301 in 25 seconds.

"When Dean hit 33 seconds, we only had one go left each and all of a sudden the panic button kicked in!" admitted the ever-competitive Deller.

"I only had one shot - on the last shot luckily I took the 130 out on the bull. If I'd missed then Dean would still have been World Record holder - and we can't have that!"
