Super Prize For Welge!

ANDREE WELGE has won a place in the Ladbrokes World Darts Championship and a €100,000 prize after taking victory over Tomas Seyler in the Bild Superdarter competition in Germany.

Welge, who recently starred on home soil in the PartyPoker.net European Championship, took victory in the inaugural Bild Superdarter event, which has been held across six months.

Bild Superdarter is the biggest darts event ever staged across Germany, with thousands of fans having taken part in recent months before the finals were held last weekend - using the short best-of-three-leg format and a free draw after each round.

Welge overcame Thomas Hentschel in the last 16 before seeing off Stefan Nilles in the quarter-finals and Jyhan Artut in the semi-finals.

The final was a tight affair, with Seyler missing a dart at the bull to take victory with an 85 finish to allow Welge in for a 64 checkout, which he completed on double eight to claim the biggest prize paid in Germany.

Welge's victory also earns him one of the International Qualifier places in the 2013 Ladbrokes World Darts Championship, meaning he will compete in the event for a fourth time.
