Van Gerwen Excited For Lewis Game

MICHAEL VAN GERWEN expects a 'special' game with Adrian Lewis in the PartyPoker.com World Grand Prix on Thursday.

In-form van Gerwen takes on World Champion Lewis for a place in the quarter-finals at the Citywest Hotel in an eagerly-awaited encounter as the second round concludes.

Van Gerwen hit a nine-dart finish in the World Matchplay this summer and also claimed a fourth PDC ProTour win of the year last weekend before seeing off Colin Lloyd in his Dublin opener.

Lewis, meanwhile, overcame Richie Burnett to reach the second round, and the 23-year-old Dutch ace is excited by the chance to face the world number two.

"I'm really looking forward to playing Adrian," van Gerwen told the Modus Darts website. "I've never played him on stage before but it's an exciting prospect.

"He is a fast player and I am too. If we both take our best game up there then it could be really special for the crowd and for TV.

"He is a top player. You do not become World Champion twice without being a brilliant dart player but my form is good and I'm feeling confident."
