Cash Converters PCF Semis

PHIL TAYLOR and Kim Huybrechts won through to the Cash Converters Players Championship Final, defeating Simon Whitlock and Justin Pipe in the semi-finals.

Taylor stormed into his third final in the five stagings of the tournament with a brilliant 11-2 win over number two seed Whitlock.

Taylor punished a string of missed doubles from the Australian early on as he took command, winning seven successive legs from one-all to move 8-1 up.

Whitlock took out 88 to win a second leg, but Taylor matched the finish in the next before completing the win in style with back-to-back checkouts of 170 and 164.

Belgian star Huybrechts, meanwhile, reached his first major televised final with an 11-6 win over Justin Pipe in their last four contest.

Huybrechts, like Taylor, did the damage early on as he led 4-1, with Pipe taking out 120 and 101 to hit back to 6-4 and 8-6 before the newcomer took the final three legs without reply to seal victory, including an 11-darter in the final leg.

TV Coverage
The whole tournament will be broadcast live on ITV4, with coverage from 12.30pm-5.15pm for the afternoon sessions and from 6.45pm-11.15pm for the evening sessions on each day.

10-6 - Pipe is unable to take out 101, and Huybrechts lands double nine with a key third dart to move to the edge of victory.
11-6 - Huybrechts opens with a 174 and lands two 140s before finishing an 11-darter to seal his place in a first major final.
Kim Huybrechts: "I'm really happy. My finishing was important - every player in this tournament can hit 180s and 140s and the difference is in the doubles, and Justin gave me chances which I took. In my last big semi-final at the European Championship I lost to Simon Whitlock, so this is massive for me and I'm looking forward to the final."
Justin Pipe: "I'm not too disappointed because it's my own fault - I was too relaxed at the start and my finishing wasn't good enough. Kim's finishing was brilliant and the best man won. It may have been different if I'd taken the first couple of legs but it's another learning curve for me. It's my first TV semi-final and I'm up to ninth in the world, so I'm really happy."

2-10 - Taylor takes out a sensational 170 to move to the brink of the final.
2-11 - Taylor completes the win in style by taking out 164.
Phil Taylor: "I knew I had to play well against Simon and I did that but he let me in early on with some missed doubles. I had to get on top of him early on and keep him under pressure, but I still knew I had to hit the big finishes at the end to make sure I finished him off. Kim has been sensational this weekend and he'll be really tough in the final."
Simon Whitlock: "I missed some doubles early on and you can't afford to do that against Phil. He capitalised on that and bashed me up but I never gave up. I kept fighting but you can't give him that sort of lead. I felt good towards the end of the game but it was too late for me."
