Second Anderson Seals Sydney Spot

BEAU ANDERSON claimed the first qualifying place in the Sydney Darts Masters with a narrow 6-5 win over Ben Gaitor on Sunday, as he joined brother Kyle Anderson in the Luna Park tournament.

Anderson came through a 95-player field in the first of three DPA Qualifiers at the Warilla Bowls Club ahead of the FOX SPORTS-televised, sold out Luna Park event, which begins on Thursday.

Anderson defeated local entrant Andy Hamilton - not the world number six! - 6-0 in the event and also saw off Dan Chapman, Mitchell Clegg, Koka Kokiri and New Zealand World Cup representative Craig Caldwell in his route to the final.

There, he took on Gaitor and finished 146 as he took an early 2-1 lead, and he held the advantage until Gaitor hit himself ahead at 4-3.

Gaitor also finished 52 to move 5-4 up, but double four saw Anderson force a decider before he edged a tense leg by hitting the same double to secure his spot at Luna Park.

Gaitor had seen off David Platt 6-4 in the semi-finals, and also picked up wins over Kerry Allen, John Bunyard, Bill Stanley and Paul Cotton on the day.

Monday sees Qualifier Two take place at the Warilla Bowls Club, as players return to compete for the second place in Thursday's first round draw.

The three DPA Qualifiers and an Oceanic Masters Qualifier join DPA Australian Grand Prix top three Kyle Anderson - the younger brother of Beau - Gordon Mathers and Clinton Bridge, and New Zealand Qualifier Warren Parry as the players who will take on eight top PDC stars in the Sydney Darts Masters.
