Ladbrokes World Championship Prelim Draw

THE Ladbrokes World Darts Championship preliminary round draw has pitted veteran Paul Lim up against Japan's Morihiro Hashimoto, while Devon Petersen makes his return to the Alexandra Palace stage against Malaysia's Mohammed Latif Sapup.

The preliminary round of the World Championship sees the event's International Qualifiers in action alongside the PDPA Qualifier runner-up Ian Moss and Ben Ward, the PDC Unicorn Challenge Tour runner-up.

Ward will make his debut in a major tournament against another World Championship newcomer, Austria's Zoran Lerchbacher, while Moss was drawn against New Zealand national champion Rob Szabo.

Singapore's Paul Lim, who will be competing in his 20th World Championship, has drawn Japan's Morihiro Hashimoto in a high-profile tie.

Hashimoto was a popular figure on his World Championship debut three years ago, when he won through his preliminary round game before losing to Gary Anderson, while Lim made it through to the first round 12 months ago before being defeated by Michael van Gerwen.

Devon Petersen, the South African Masters champion, will make his return from a 12-month absence with an arm injury when he plays Malaysian qualifier Mohammed Latif Sapup - who lost out to Lim last year - in their opener.

Spanish debutant Julio Barbero takes on German qualifier Andree Welge, while Denmark's Dennis Lindskjold faces Philippines champion Edward Santos in their first taste of the Alexandra Palace stage.

Colin McGarry, who won the Tom Kirby Memorial Irish Matchplay final in October, will end a ten-year absence from the World Championship when he takes on experienced Danish ace Per Laursen, who won the SDC Scandinavian Order of Merit this year.

Hong Kong's Ting Chi Royden Lam, who won a Tour Card in January and played in the UK Open in June before winning the Greater China Qualifier, will play Holland's Gino Vos, who won the Western Europe Qualifier.

The Ladbrokes World Darts Championship preliminary round draw was made by PDPA Chief Executive Alan Warriner-Little during the Cash Converters Players Championship Finals in Minehead and revealed exclusively on the OfficialPDC YouTube Channel.

The draw for the first round of the Ladbrokes World Darts Championship will be made on Monday December 2 at around 11.30am on Sky Sports News.
