World Youth Championship Qualifier

REES HALL and Dean Reynolds were the two players who won through to the PDC Unicorn World Youth Championship in Friday's Qualifier in Reading.

The duo take the field for the £50,000 tournament to 64 players ahead of Saturday's early rounds at the Rivermead Centre, when play is down to the last two players, who will contest the final during the Betway Premier League Darts Play-Offs at The O2 in London on May 22.

Cardiff-born Reynolds, a 21-year-old sports coach now based in Guildford, won his place as he defeated James Lane, Harry West and Liam Cooper with 6-1 scorelines before seeing off Matt Smith and Cain Unwin 6-3.

The Welshman has already won through as a Rileys Amateur Qualifier to compete in the Coral UK Open this year, and will now compete for the £10,000 World Youth Championship title as he continues his emergence.

Middlesex-based Hall joined Reynolds in winning through in Reading on Friday, as he defeated Spencer Murphy, Sean Johnson, Jeffrey De Zwaan and Jordan Patterson to qualify.

Hall, who turned 22 in January, is a greenkeeper at Wentworth Golf Club by day and is also a former scratch golfer looking to make his breakthrough in darts.

Unwin, a 19-year-old from Leicester, is the first reserve for the World Youth Championship should any of the 64 Qualifiers not attend on Saturday, with 18-year-old Scottish hopefuly Patterson the second reserve.

Dumfries-based Patterson had looked on set to qualify when he knocked out 2012 World Youth Champion James Hubbard in the last eight, only to then lose out 6-4 to Hall in their decider.
