Van Gerwen Favourite With Betway

MICHAEL VAN GERWEN is the 7/5 favourite to retain his Betway Premier League Darts title in Thursday's Play-Offs at The O2 in London.

The reigning Premier League champion finished at the top of the regular season's league table for a second successive year as wins over Raymond van Barneveld and Peter Wright gave him a four-point cushion at the summit.

Van Gerwen - the current World Champion and world number one - also topped the table 12 months ago before defeating James Wade and Phil Taylor in the Play-Offs, and is the 7/5 favourite with sponsors Betway to repeat the feat this time around.

Six-time Premier League champion Taylor, who has bounced back from losing four of his opening five games to finish third with an 11-match unbeaten run, is the 3/2 second favourite.

Gary Anderson, the 2011 Premier League Darts champion, is the 7/1 third favourite going into the Play-Offs - having been 33/1 to lift the title going into the season - while van Barneveld is the 8/1 outsider.

Both van Gerwen and Taylor are 33/100 favourites to win their semi-final games against Anderson and van Barneveld respectively, who are 9/4 to reach the final.
