Local Stars Secure Japan Darts Masters Spots

HARUKI MURAMATSU, Morihiro Hashimoto and Sho Katsumi will be amongst the eight home hopefuls competing in the Zipang Casino Japan Darts Masters later this month.

The PDC's first World Series of Darts event in Japan will see eight leading stars of the sport do battle with eight Japanese players on June 27 & 28 at the Osanbashi Hall in Yokohama.

The eight PDC stars include recent Dubai Duty Free Darts Masters winner Michael van Gerwen, World Champion Gary Anderson and the legendary 16-time World Champion Phil Taylor.

The event will also feature former World Champions Adrian Lewis, Raymond van Barneveld and Stephen Bunting, eight-time major champion James Wade and former World Championship finalist Peter Wright.

In addition, a series of eight Japanese players will also compete in the tournament, as they face the PDC stars in the first round in Yokohama on Saturday June 27.

PDC Tour Card Holder Haruki Muramatsu, a four-time World Championship qualifier, heads the four invited players from Japan, alongside two-time World Championship qualifier Morihiro Hashimoto, former PDC World Cup ace Sho Katsumi and Masumi Chino, who was the runner-up in the PDJ's World Championship qualifier last year.

A qualifying event which featured 180 entries has seen Katsuya Aiba, Yuki Yamada, Shintaro Inoue and Chikara Fujimori win places in the Zipang Casino Japan Darts Masters.
