Dutch & Belgian Quartet Win JDC Spots

COLIN ROELOFS, Wessel Nijman, Levy Frauenfelder and Erik Meyers won places in the JDC European Darts Championship at the qualifier for Dutch and Belgian players at the Evenementenhal in Venray.

A field of 130 young players from the Netherlands and Belgium took part in the Junior Dutch & Belgium Darts Masters, which had four spots on offer in the JDC's showpiece event, which will be held from September 16-18 at Pontins Brean Sands.

Dutch youngster Roelofs won the 2014 World Youth Masters and was the 2015 BDO World Youth Champion, while Nijman won the Danish Youth Masters event earlier this year and Frauenfelder has played for the Netherlands at youth level.

Belgium's Meyers defeated fellow countryman Viani Van den Bergh to claim his place in the JDC European Darts Championship.

The quartet join invited Dutch players Justin van Tergouw and Maikel Verberk in travelling to the UK in September to compete, with leading PDC players Michael van Gerwen, Raymond van Barneveld and Kim Huybrechts sponsoring the six players for the weekend.

The event at the Evenementenhal was also supported by former top stars Roland Scholten and Co Stompe, while Vincent van der Voort, Jelle Klaasen and Ronny Huybrechts also gave their backing to the initiative, which was organised by Dutch darts official and RTL7 commentator, Jacques Nieuwlaat.
