Nine-Dart Bonus Increased to £25k!

THE PDC has increased the bonus for a nine-dart finish at the William Hill World Darts Championship to £25,000 ahead of the tournament's opening at Alexandra Palace on Thursday.

A rolling £5,000 bonus is on offer in PDC Premier events throughout a year, which increases from tournament to tournament if no played lands a perfect leg.

However, with Alan Norris hitting a nine-dart finish at the recent Cash Converters Players Championship Finals in Minehead - earning himself a £35,000 bonus - the prize had been set to revert to £5,000 at the World Championship.

PDC Chairman Barry Hearn has revealed: "We've added a further £20,000 to the bonus on offer for a nine-dart finish during this year's William Hill World Darts Championship.

"The stature of this tournament makes a nine-dart finish even more special, and it is only right that the bonus on offer for players reflects the prestige of this wonderful championship.

"We've done our part - the challenge is now for our players to hit a nine-darter!"

Seven players have previously hit the nine perfect legs at the William Hill World Darts Championship, with Raymond van Barneveld and Adrian Lewis each achieving the feat twice before Gary Anderson hit the most recent nine-darter during last year's semi-finals.

In addition to the £25,000 bonus for players - which would be split on a pro-rata basis if multiple nine-darters are achieved - a £9,000 donation will be made by sponsors William Hill to Parkinson's UK, the official charity partner of the PDC, for each nine-dart finish hit during the event.

* The William Hill World Darts Championship will take place at Alexandra Palace, London from December 15-January 2, and will be shown live on the dedicated Sky Sports Darts channel as part of a festive season which includes Premier League football, EFL and Test match cricket.
