Two Nine-Darters For Van Gerwen!

Michael van Gerwen - Betway Premier League (PDC)

MICHAEL VAN GERWEN has created history in Coral UK Open Qualifier Four after becoming only the second player ever to achieve TWO nine-dart finishes in the same game.

The Dutchman achieved the feat during his third round win over Ryan Murray in Wigan - scoring 180, 177 and finishing 144 in the fourth leg for his first nine-darter.

He then sealed a 6-2 triumph by scoring 177, 180 and then taking out 144 once more in leg eight to follow Phil Taylor as only the second player in history to hit two nine-darters in a match.

Van Gerwen's moments of genius came on one of the PDC's two live streamed boards at www.livepdc.tv  during the Coral UK Open Qualifier, allowing fans worldwide to share the magical achievement.

The world number one had incredibly survived two missed match darts from Adam Hunt before edging through a tight second round game 6-5 earlier in the afternoon at the Robin Park Tennis Centre.

Taylor's incredible feat came in the 2010 Premier League final as he defeated James Wade at the Wembley Arena with a momentous achievement.

Taylor also hit two nine-dart finishes during one day on the PDC ProTour during the 2014 Coral UK Open Qualifiers in Wigan.

Van Gerwen had hit a nine-dart finish at the Coral UK Open TV Finals last March, during a win over Rob Cross before he went on to retain the title at the Butlins Minehead Resort.
