2018 Betway World Cup Nations

Betway World Cup (Lawrence Lustig, PDC)

THE 32 competing nations for the 2018 Betway World Cup of Darts have been confirmed ahead of the eighth staging of the tournament from May 31-June 3 in Frankfurt.

The World Cup of Darts sees nations represented by two-player teams, who compete in a mixture of Doubles and Singles matches across the four days of the knockout event.

The Netherlands will defend their title at the Eissporthalle, having claimed their third victory when Michael van Gerwen and Raymond van Barneveld were crowned last June.

Four-time World Cup winners England are set to have World Champion Rob Cross in their team for the first time, while former finalists Australia, Wales, Belgium and Scotland will also be in action.

With qualifying events having already taken place in some nations, Brazil will be represented by Diogo Portela and Bruno Rangel, while Nandor Bezzeg and Tamas Alexits will compete for Hungary.

Danish veteran Per Laursen maintains his ever-present record in the World Cup and is partnered by debutant Henrik Primdal, while Kim Viljanen and Marko Kantele will again compete for Finland.

Daniel Larsson and Dennis Nilsson - a recent PDC Unicorn Challenge Tour event winner - will represent Sweden, with Magnus Caris missing out on the World Cup for the first time.

Cody Harris - who has based himself in the UK this year to compete on the PDC circuit full-time - will be joined in the New Zealand team by Warren Parry, the top-ranked player on the DartPlayers New Zealand circuit.

Michel Furlani, who has competed twice at the PDC Qualifying School, has qualified to represent Italy alongside Alessio Medaina.

Teenager Roman Benecky, 18, will join Karel Sedlacek in representing the Czech Republic, with the pair edging out Frantisek Humpula in their World Cup qualifier.

Eight nations will be seeded for the first round draw, based on the lowest cumulative ranking of the nation's players on the PDC Order of Merit at the cut-off date for selection.

The Betway World Cup of Darts will be held from May 31-June-3 at the Eissporthalle in Frankfurt, and will be televised live on Sky Sports and worldwide through the PDC's series of international broadcast partners.
