JDC Tour Heads To Derby

Brad Phillips (JDC)

THE 2018 Junior Darts Corporation’s Modus UK Tour continues on Saturday with Event Three at The Cueball Club in Derby.

The home of the Jamie Caven Darts Academy will host the junior stars as they compete in the third of eight tour events this year ahead of the Grand Finals in Bristol in December.

Junior players aged from ten-18 will compete in the remaining six one-day events during the year leading up to the WDS Associates Junior World Championship.

The season began on Saturday February 17 at the George Albert Hotel in Dorchester, with events in Derby, South Benfleet, Chorlton, Exeter, Solihull and Wolverhampton still to come.

Brad Phillips will be looking to make it a hat-trick of wins having claimed the opening two events in Dorchester and Worcester.

Among previous winners of the Derby event is Jim Moston, who became JDC European Champion in 2016.

"We always look forward to Derby, The Cueball Club has great facilities and there is always a good turnout,” said Darren Barson, Director at the JDC.

“The tour is starting to take shape as we move into the middle part of the year. There is so much to play for on the JDC tour and the standard keeps on rising all the time.”

Victory in one of the Modus UK Junior Darts Tour events will guarantee a player a spot in the WDS Associates Junior World Darts Championship field in December.

Further places will also be available to eight players from the JDC Academy Order of Merit, based on the nationwide academies which players compete in during the year.

In addition to securing places in the Junior World Championship, the top three players on the final UK Tour Order of Merit will also win a PDPA Scholarship to compete on the 2019 PDC Unicorn Development Tour.
