MENSUR SULJOVIC described his Danish Darts Open victory as a 'perfect' weekend in Copenhagen.

The world number six picked up his second European Tour title, and his fifth PDC triumph, at the Brondbyhallen on Sunday and is now targeting more titles in 2018.

Suljovic backed up his German Darts Masters win on the World Series of Darts in May by going all the way once again at last weekend's inaugural Danish event.

"This weekend was perfect for me, I am so happy," said Suljovic, who reached the semi-finals of the Austrian Darts Open in April.

"It was my first time playing in Copenhagen and I loved it, the crowd were amazing and I am glad I performed well for them.

"I hope I can keep up this good level now and win more titles, I would love to win the World Matchplay but first I want to win in Hamburg next weekend."

Suljovic recorded wins over Ryan Joyce, Darren Webster and Peter Wright as he reached the semi-finals where he met Gibraltar Darts Trophy runner-up Adrian Lewis.

The two-time World Champion missed a match dart to beat Suljovic in the game of the tournament, but the Austrian ace battled through to the final where he saw off Simon Whitlock to clinch the £25,000 prize.

"To beat Adrian, a two-time World Champion, in such a great game was a special feeling," added Suljovic.

"I have a lot of respect for him, he beat me in Gibraltar and I said to myself that I didn't want that to happen again.

"I played a brilliant game in the semi-final and then to win the final against a great player in Simon was fantastic."

Suljovic will next be in action this weekend (June 29-July 1) as the PDC European Tour continues with the European Darts Matchplay in Hamburg, Germany, with coverage to be broadcast at PDCTV-HD and through a series of bookmakers' websites worldwide.
