DIMITRI VAN DEN BERGH produced a superb performance at Alexandra Palace to progress to the third round of the William Hill World Darts Championship at the expense of Jonny Clayton.

Van den Bergh posted the second highest average of the tournament so far as he claimed a 3-1 win over the Welshman.

The Belgian ace hit three consecutive 13-darters to win the first set but Clayton produced a superb second set to level, winning legs in 11, 12 and 18 darts.

Van den Bergh won set three but found himself two legs behind in the fourth set before a 108 checkout sparked his charge towards the finish line - and he sealed the win by taking out 72 on double nine, ending the match with an average of 104.45.
