Anderson 8/1 With Ladbrokes To Retain Title

Gary Anderson (Lawrence Lustig, PDC)

GARY ANDERSON is the 8/1 second favourite as he bids to retain the Ladbrokes UK Open title in Minehead this weekend.

Scottish star Anderson claimed his first UK Open title 12 months ago when he took glory at the Butlin's Minehead Resort.

The Scot has been sidelined for six weeks whilst undergoing treatment for a long-standing back problem, but will return to action on Friday to defend his title, where he is 8/1 with the sponsors for a comeback success.

Anderson and his rivals inside the world's top 32 enter the UK Open at the fourth round stage on Friday night, with two-time winner and world number one Michael van Gerwen the 5/6 odds-on favourite with Ladbrokes.

World Championship finalist Michael Smith is a 10/1 chance as he searches for his first UK Open triumph, closely followed by Rob Cross (12/1), 2017 champion Peter Wright (14/1) and Mensur Suljovic (16/1).

Grand Slam of Darts champion Gerwyn Price, the 2017 UK Open finalist, is 22/1, with former champion Adrian Lewis joined by Dave Chisnall and PDC newcomer Glen Durrant at 25/1, while two-time winner James Wade is a 40/1 chance to claim his third title.
