BETFRED have donated £32,000 to Parkinson's UK following the record-breaking 2019 Betfred World Matchplay in Blackpool.

The title sponsors of the Professional Darts Corporation event pledged £50 per 180 thrown during the tournament for the charity, alongside £1 per point scored in a special Nine-Dart Challenge.

Stars including finalists Rob Cross and Michael Smith, along with PDC Chairman Barry Hearn, took part in the Nine-Dart Challenge throughout the World Matchplay.

The on-stage action saw the 2018 total of 301 maximum 180s scored during the event beaten by a final tally of 330, meaning £16,500 plus a £10,000 bonus for the new record.

Betfred founder Fred Done joined World Matchplay champion Rob Cross on stage following Sunday's final to present a cheque for the total donation of £32,000 to Sky Sports presenter Dave Clark, a celebrity supporter of Parkinson's UK.

"I'm delighted to make this donation to such a worthy cause and well done to all the players for hitting so many 180s," said Betfred boss Fred Done.

"I would also like to thank everyone who works on the darts for making Betfred so welcome."
