2019 Oceanic Representatives: The Lowdown

Ahead of the Brisbane Darts Masters, we look at the Oeanic Representatives for August's World Series of Darts treble-header.

The sport's biggest names return Down Under for the Brisbane Darts Masters, Melbourne Darts Masters and NZ Darts Masters over the next three weeks.

Each event sees eight top PDC stars pitted against the eight Oceanic Representatives in the first round.

2017 European Championship semi-finalist - hitting nine-darter against Michael van Gerwen.
Also hit nine-darter in 2014 World Championship.
Made TV debut at 2013 World Championship & first World Series appearance was 2013 Sydney Darts Masters.

Corey Cadby
Nickname: The King
Age: 24
From: Melbourne, Australia
PDC Ranking: 62
Competing In: Brisbane, Melbourne & Hamilton

2016 World Youth Champion.
2017 Auckland Darts Masters finalist.
2018 UK Open runner-up.
Won PDC Tour Card in 2018, and a UK Open Qualifier. Returned to competing in the UK in April 2019.

Damon Heta
Nickname: The Heat
Age: 31 (32 on August 10)
From: Perth, Australia
Competing In: Brisbane, Melbourne & Hamilton

Has previously played in four WSOD events plus 2018 World Series of Darts Finals:
2014 Sydney Darts Masters, 2016 Auckland Darts Masters, 2018 Melbourne Darts Masters (defeated Kyle Anderson to reach QF) and 2018 Brisbane Darts Masters. 2018 WSOD Finals, defeated Maik Langendorf 6-5 then lost to Michael van Gerwen.
Winner of three DartPlayers Australia events in 2019. Also won Australian Open event on August 3, defeating Scott Mitchell in the final.

James Bailey
Nickname: The Bull
Age: 49
From: Brisbane, Australia
Competing In: Brisbane & Melbourne

Competed in 2019 World Championship, losing in first round to Steve Lennon.
Played in 2018 Melbourne Darts Masters, losing 6-2 to Gary Anderson.
2018 Oceanic Masters winner & winner of four DPA events in 2019.

Ben Robb
Nickname: Big Rig
Age: 30
From: Rangiora, New Zealand
Competing In: Brisbane & Hamilton

Made TV debut at 2018 Auckland Darts Masters, losing 6-5 to Simon Whitlock.
Winner of a DPA ProTour event in Brisbane this year, also reaching three other finals.
2019 New Zealand South Island Masters winner and former runner-up in Korean Open, Asia-Pacific Cup singles, Canterbury Open and Canterbury Classic.

Haupai Puha
Nickname: Hopes
Age: 34
From: Gisborne, New Zealand
Competing In: Brisbane, Melbourne & Hamilton

Made World Cup debut alongside Cody Harris in June - reached quarter-finals with wins over Lithuania & South Africa.
Domestic number one on DartPlayers New Zealand circuit despite only competing seriously since 2017.
Competed in 2018 Auckland Darts Masters (losing to Kyle Anderson) and Melbourne Darts Masters (losing to Rob Cross).
Has also won two events on Australian circuit this year.
Excellent golfer who was the winner of NZ Maori Golf Matchplay championship in 2010 and 2012.

Koha Kokiri

Competing In: Brisbane

Qualified for 2016 PDC World Championship as 2015 DPA Oceanic Masters champion, losing to Steve Beaton.
Previously played in 2016 and 2017 Perth Darts Masters (losing to Dave Chisnall & Daryl Gurney) and 2017 Melbourne Darts Masters (losing to James Wade)
Winner of DPA Pro Tour events in 2017 and 2019. Was also 2009 New Zealand Open winner.
Originally from NZ but lives south of Perth, WA.

Brendon McCausland
Nickname: ATK
Age: 45
From: Arataki, New Zealand
Competing In: Brisbane

Making TV debut in Brisbane Darts Masters.
Competed on DPA circuit in 2010-2011 and again since 2018. Has reached two DPA quarter-finals in 2019.
Crossfit coach by trade.

Robbie King
Nickname: Rocket
Age: 25
From: Gold Coast, Australia
Competing In: Melbourne

World Youth Championship qualifier four times from 2013-2016.
Winner of two DPA events in 2019.
Has been playing darts since age 15 and on DPA circuit since 2011 (age 17). Missed much of 2018 with health issues but has now recovered.

Tim Pusey
Nickname: The Magnet
Age: 26
From: Perth, Australia
Competing In: Melbourne

Competed in all three World Series events Down Under in 2018. Lost to Gary Anderson in Auckland, Michael Smith in Melbourne and Rob Cross in Brisbane.
2018 DPA Oceanic Masters runner-up to James Bailey. Won a DPA Pro Tour event in 2018 and reached two other finals.
Has reached one semi-final and four quarter-finals on DPA Pro Tour in 2019.

Mick Lacey
Nickname: Lone Wolf
Age: 42
From: Redbank Plains, Australia
Competing In: Melbourne

Making World Series of Darts debut.
First competed in events in 2009 Oceanic Masters and 2012-2014 on DartPlayers New Zealand circuit. Has become a regular on DPA circuit in Australia since mid-2018.
Has reached one final and three semi-finals on DPA Pro Tour this year.
Has been playing since 1991, and competitively since 2014. Lived for 19 years in New Zealand before returning two years ago.

Cody Harris
Nickname: Code Star
Age: 32
From: Auckland, New Zealand
PDC Ranking: 130
Competing In: Hamilton

First New Zealander to compete full-time on PDC circuit, since basing himself in England at the start of 2018. Has yet to win PDC Tour Card but has won two Challenge Tour events (May 2018 and July 2019).
Reached semi-finals of a Players Championship in Germany on Sunday August 4 - his best run in a senior PDC event.
Made TV debut at 2015 Sydney Darts Masters, has also played in 2016 in Auckland and Sydney, 2017 in Auckland and Melbourne and 2018 in Auckland.
Also represented New Zealand in 2016-2019 PDC World Cup of Darts - reaching quarter-finals in June this year alongside Haupai Puha (defeating Lithuania and South Africa).
Qualified for 2018 and 2019 World Championship, reaching the last 64 on both occasions.
Has also competed in 2018 and 2019 UK Open.

Craig Caldwell

Previously competed in 2015 World Series events in Perth, Sydney and Auckland (losing to Phil Taylor, James Wade and Phil Taylor respectively).
Also represented NZ in 2013 and 2014 PDC World Cup of Darts.
Has qualified in 2016, 2017 and 2018 for BDO Lakeside Championship and in 2016 for BDO World Trophy.
Winner of 11 events on New Zealand circuit since 2011 but has been competing since 2007.

David Platt

Has played in nine previous World Series events - has yet to win past first round. Most recent appearance was 2017 Melbourne Darts Masters, losing 6-3 to Michael Smith.
Three-time World Championship qualifier (2003, 2006 & 2017). Also a former UK Open & World Matchplay qualifier.
2016 DPA Oceanic Masters winner and 2015 DPA Australian Matchplay champion amongst over 20 DPA titles since 2011.
Most recent tournament win was West Coast Classic in March 2019.
Emigrated from UK to Perth in 2009. Lives around an hour north of Perth.
