Cadby and Anderson to Battle in Brisbane

AUSTRALIAN sensation Corey Cadby will lock horns with former two-time World Champion Gary Anderson in the first round of the 2019 Brisbane Darts Masters.

The PDC World Series of Darts' second visit to Brisbane will see 16 players compete from August 9-10 at the BCEC in the third event of the biggest world tour in the sport.

The clash between Anderson and Cadby headlines a night that will also see home favourite Kyle Anderson take on German Darts Masters champion Peter Wright.

It's the pairs first meeting since the 2018 UK Open final, in which Anderson overcame his Aussie rival to claim the title.

“I’m looking forward to playing Corey again, he’s a great lad and a talented player so having a go at him in front of an Australian crowd should be great,” said Anderson.

24-year-old Cadby, a former World Youth Champion will again have the chance to clash with the world’s best players as part of the World Series and is relishing the challenge.

“Gary is one of the best players ever but I believe I can be as good and have to take my chances when we are on stage.

“I’m a proud Aussie and hopefully the crowd will give me the extra boost I need,” said Cadby after the draw.

Reigning champion and newly crowned World Matchplay winner Rob Cross will face James Bailey, whilst former World Grand Prix champion Daryl Gurney matched up against Koha Kokiri.

Home hero Simon Whitlock begins his campaign against Brendon McCausland - a man who he has known for years and who once tattooed the arm of the Australian ace.

World number one Michael van Gerwen will hope to return to form after disappointment at the World Matchplay when he takes on Ben Robb in Brisbane.

Raymond van Barnelveld begins his final competitive trip to Australia by taking on New Zealand World Cup star Haupai Puha.

And current World Series Finals champion James Wade will have a tough test when he takes on Demon Heta.

Friday's first round at the BCEC will be followed by the quarter-finals, semi-finals and final on Saturday. For tickets, visit www.ticketek.com.au.

The Brisbane Darts Masters will be broadcast live on Fox Sports across Australia and worldwide through the PDC's international broadcast partners, as well as through PDCTV-HD for Rest of the World Subscribers (outside of the UK, Ireland & Netherlands).

UK TV coverage on ITV4 will be from 7pm BST on each night.
