Edhouse & Evans win Tour Cards as Challenge Tour concludes

Ritchie Edhouse (PDC)

Ritchie Edhouse and David Evans won two-year PDC Tour Cards as the 2020 PDC Unicorn Challenge Tour concluded in Barnsley on Sunday.

Evans finished top of the final Challenge Tour Order of Merit having won two events across Friday and Saturday, while a magnificent final day from Edhouse saw him take second spot.

As well as winning a place on the PDC tour across 2021-22, table-topper Evans has also secured his debut at the 2020/21 William Hill World Darts Championship.

The abridged season concluded with six events staged across a three-day weekend in Barnsley, with Edhouse winning back his PDC Tour Card in a memorable Sunday.

The Enfield thrower, who previously competed on the ProTour in 2017-18, won Sunday's Event Nine and was the runner-up in Event Ten to snatch second place on the final Challenge Tour Order of Merit behind Evans.

Edhouse initially picked up his third Challenge Tour title by defeating Scott Taylor in the Event Nine final, surviving missed match darts from his opponent in a dramatic deciding leg before claiming the £2,000 title with a 5-4 win.

He had stormed into the final with a 5-0 whitewash of Jarred Cole, and also saw off young talent Maikel Verberk in the quarter-finals amongst eight wins in the event.

Taylor ended the hopes of Keane Barry in the semi-finals and defeated two other former JDC champions, Owen Roelofs and Rusty-Jake Rodriguez, on his way to the final.

Edhouse then won through to the final of Event Ten, but lost out 5-3 to Kevin Doets as the Dutch youngster followed up last weekend's Development Tour Event Five win with a second PDC title.
