BetVictor World Cup of Darts - Netherlands Update

BetVictor World Cup of Darts (PDC Europe)

Michael van Gerwen is being medically assessed ahead of the Netherlands' BetVictor World Cup of Darts quarter-final with Germany on Sunday afternoon.

Van Gerwen woke on Sunday with a recurrence of a long-standing back problem.

The world number one remains hopeful of being able to compete on Sunday afternoon after seeking medical advice.

Should Van Gerwen be unable to compete, the Netherlands will be withdrawn from the event and Germany would receive a Bye through to the semi-finals.

Michael van Gerwen WILL play for the Netherlands in the BetVictor World Cup of Darts quarter-finals.

Medical checks on the Dutchman's back have diagnosed what is believed to be a trapped nerve.

The world number one will play in Sunday afternoon's quarter-final against Germany, but has opted to play in the second Singles tie.

Danny Noppert will now play first, against Gabriel Clemens, and Van Gerwen will play against Max Hopp.
