Campbell doubles tally to top Unicorn Challenge Tour Europe Order of Merit

Matt Campbell

Matt Campbell picked up his second title of the weekend to lead the Unicorn Challenge Tour Europe Order of Merit, while Kenny Neyens was also victorious in Niedernhausen on Sunday.

The PDC's second-tier tour, split into UK and European sections in 2021, saw Events Five and Six take place in Germany, the third of three consecutive days of action.

Highly-rated Canadian Campbell and Belgian youngster Neyens both walked away from the H+ Hotel venue with titles as over 130 PDPA Associate Members competed in the two £10,000 events.

Campbell, who resides in Ontario, followed up his Event One win by going all the way in Event Five, edging past Dutchman Jitse Van der Wal 5-4 in the final.

Averages of 105.9 and 105.7 saw Campbell see off Moreno Blom and Chris Landman on the way to securing his second PDC title.

Campbell also took the scalps of former Tour Card Holders Rowby-John Rodriguez, in the semi-finals, and Jose Justicia in the last 16.

Challenge Tour Europe Order of Merit

Campbell leads the way at the half-way stage of the Unicorn Challenge Tour Europe campaign, and is on course to return to Alexandra Palace for a third successive year.

*Both UK and Europe sections will operate their own Orders of Merit for each tour, with the winner of each securing a PDC Tour Card for 2022/23 and a place in the 2021/22 William Hill World Darts Championship

Kenny Neyens
Belgium's Neyens claimed his first Challenge Tour title

The final event of the weekend saw rising star Neyens notch up his first Challenge Tour crown, having previously won two Development Titles in 2016 and 2017.

The 26-year-old, who also competed in the 2017/18 World Championship, ends the weekend in second spot on the Order of Merit thanks to a 5-4 victory over Germany's Lukas Wenig.

Neyens defeated Campbell and Van der Wal in the quarter-finals and last 16 respectively en route to the title.

The PDC Unicorn Challenge Tour Europe will resume across September 3-5, with another three days of treble-header events set to take place in Niedernhausen, with play to start around 1000 local time (0900 BST) each day.
