2021 PDC Unicorn World Youth Championship date & format confirmed

Bradley Brooks (Lawrence Lustig, PDC)

Bradley Brooks will defend his PDC Unicorn World Youth Championship title at the Butlin's Minehead Resort on Sunday November 28, with this year's tournament to feature 32 players competing in one day.

Blackburn teenager Brooks became the ninth World Youth Champion when he defeated Joe Davis in a deciding leg in the 2020 event.

He will be one of ten PDC Tour Card Holders who automatically qualify to compete in the 2021 tournament, alongside former finalist Adam Gawlas, double ProTour event winner Callan Rydz and European Championship qualifiers Keane Barry and Lewis Williams.

Shusaku Nakamura has qualified from Japan to make his debut in the event, while Lee Lok Yin will represent Hong Kong this year.

A further four international qualifiers will come from events to be held across Europe during November, while eight players will qualify from each of the respective UK and European Development Tour Orders of Merit.

The final UK Development Tour weekend will be staged from October 29-31 in Barnsley, with the European Development Tour concluding from November 5-7 in Niedernhausen.

With ongoing global restrictions limiting the number of international qualifiers able to travel to the UK and the Development Tour being split across two regions in 2021, the World Youth Championship will be staged on one day this year.

Play in Minehead will see the 32 players compete in a round-robin format during the afternoon in Reds, with the top two players progressing to the last 16, which  before the final is played on the main stage in the evening between the semi-finals and final of the Ladbrokes Players Championship Finals.

Should any of the 32 qualifiers be unable to compete, further places would be offered to players from the relevant Development Tour Orders of Merit, offering in turn to players from the UK and then European ranking.
