Martin Schindler, Peter Wright

Peter Wright and Michael van Gerwen advanced to the last 16 of the Interwetten German Darts Championship on Saturday in Hildesheim, Germany.

Day Two of the year's second European Tour event saw the 16 seeded players enter the tournament to take on Friday's first round winners at Halle 39.

Wright and Van Gerwen defeated Martin Schindler and Jose Justicia respectively to become two of 16 players to advance to Sunday's Finals Day.

World number one Wright defied a seven-point deficit in the averages to defeat German favourite Schindler 6-4, while Van Gerwen averaged 104.15 in a 6-3 win over Jose Justicia.

Wright will take on Krzysztof Ratajski in the last 16, after the Pole claimed a 6-3 win over Jamie Hughes.

Martin Lukeman lays in wait for Van Gerwen after he defeated Damon Heta in the game of the day in Hildesheim.

Lukeman averaged 104.11 to Heta's 108.82, hitting five 180s to set up a meeting with world number five Van Gerwen.

Jonny Clayton defeated Scott Waites 6-2 to set up a meeting with Mensur Suljovic, who whitewashed Callan Rydz 6-0.

Karel Sedlacek also enjoyed a 6-0 rout of Chris Dobey, and the Czech will now face top seed Jose de Sousa, who came back from 5-3 down to defeat Kim Huybrechts 6-5.

World number four Michael Smith defeated Devon Petersen 6-4 to set up an all-St Helens meeting with Dave Chinsall, who won a last-leg decider against German number one Gabriel Clemens.

Joe Cullen and Daryl Gurney will meet in one of the pick of the last 16 ties after victories over Ricky Evans and Luke Humphries respectively.

Dimitri Vann den Bergh, Rob Cross, Ryan Searle and Dirk van Duijvenbode also progressed to Finals Day in Hildesheim.
