Cleaver & Robb share DPNZ ProTour success in Auckland

Mark Cleaver and Ben Robb shared the spoils as the third double-header of the 2022 DPNZ ProTour season took place in Auckland last weekend.

Three-time World Series qualifier Cleaver prevailed in Event Five on Saturday, before Robb clinched his fourth ProTour title of the year with victory in Sunday’s Event Six.

Cleaver defeated DPNZ number one Robb 5-3 in the quarter-finals of ProTour Five in Birkenhead, before dispatching emerging star Kayden Milne – a quarter-finalist at last month’s NZ Darts Masters.

John Hurring faced Cleaver in Saturday’s showpiece after dumping out Warren Parry and Darren Herewini earlier in the event, but Cleaver ran out an emphatic 7-3 winner to clinch his maiden DPNZ ProTour crown.

However, Robb returned to winning ways on Sunday, following up a 5-1 demolition of Josh Roberts by edging out Jimmy Samuels in a last-leg decider to set up a showdown against former World Cup quarter-finalist Haupai Puha.

Puha whitewashed Milne and eased past Herewini in the latter stages of Event Six, but Robb closed out a hard-fought 7-5 success in the final to extend his lead at the top of the DPNZ Order of Merit.

The final two DPNZ ProTour events of the year will take place from October 15-16 in Dunedin, before the DPNZ qualifier for the 2022/23 Cazoo World Darts Championship is held on October 17.
