Sampson joins list of World Championship International Qualifiers

Grant Sampson

Grant Sampson will make his Cazoo World Darts Championship debut in December, having won the African Qualifier in Cape Town on Sunday.

Sampson knocked out nine-time World Championship qualifier Devon Petersen en route to the final, where the Cape Town native defeated Laezeltrich Wentzel 8-3.

The 40-year-old joins the list of International Qualifiers to book their place in the biggest darts event on the planet, with further qualifying events for set to take place around the world in the coming weeks.

Last weekend also saw the Winmau Development Tour season draw to a close - the top two players from the Winmau Development Tour Order of Merit who have not secured World Championship qualification via another method will head to Alexandra Palace.

Nathan Rafferty and Lewy Williams will qualify from the Winmau Development Tour Order of Merit, should they not move into a ProTour Order of Merit qualifying place in the remaining events.

Should Josh Rock win the Winmau World Youth Championship final in Minehead on November 27, a third place would then be available in the Tour Card Holder Qualifier on Monday November 28.

Meanwhile, entries are now open for the three European qualifiers in November and the Indian Qualifier, which will be held in Surat on October 30 - see details below.

The 32 International Representatives will be joined by 32 PDC ProTour Order of Merit Qualifiers in the first round, while the top 32 players on the PDC Order of Merit will enter in round two.
