The race to qualify for the 2023 European Championship will reach its climax this weekend, as the 2023 European Tour season concludes with the Interwetten German Darts Championship.

This weekend’s action will see 48 players competing in the year's 13th and final European Tour event from October 13-15, as Michael van Gerwen bids to defend his crown in Hildesheim.

Following the conclusion of the German Darts Championship, the top 32 players on the European Tour Order of Merit will qualify for the European Championship, which will be held in Dortmund from October 26-29.

Dave Chisnall is poised to be the top seed after scooping a hat-trick of European Tour titles in 2023, although he can be overhauled by newly crowned World Grand Prix champion Luke Humphries.

Four-time European Champion Michael van Gerwen will also star in the £500,000 event, alongside world number one Michael Smith – a runner-up to Ross Smith in last year’s tournament.

Reigning champion Smith will be one of five former winners in this year’s 32-player field, with Rob Cross, James Wade and Peter Wright also set to feature at the Westfalenhalle.

Wales’ World Cup winners Gerwyn Price and Jonny Clayton are provisionally seeded third and ninth respectively, with Dirk van Duijvenbode currently in fifth after reaching a brace of finals in 2023.

World Youth Champion Josh Rock will also be among the high-profile names in action, while Dutch icon Raymond van Barneveld is set to make his first European Championship appearance since 2015.

Steve Beaton and Madars Razma occupy the final provisional qualification spots, although Masters champion Chris Dobey will overhaul Beaton with victory in his opening round tie at ET13.

Listed below are the latest standings on the European Tour Order of Merit, ahead of this weekend's German Darts Championship.
