Darting trailblazer Fallon Sherrock received her MBE from the Prince of Wales at Windsor Castle on Wednesday.

Sherrock was recognised for her services to the sport of darts in the 2023 King’s Birthday Honours List, and was presented with the accolade at an investiture ceremony on Wednesday.

Sherrock has played an instrumental role in the sport’s global growth over recent years, becoming the first female to win a match at the PDC World Championship with history-making triumphs over Ted Evetts and Mensur Suljovic in December 2019.

The Milton Keynes star continued her rise by reaching the Nordic Darts Masters final on her World Series debut in September 2021, before reaching the Grand Slam of Darts quarter-finals later that year.

Sherrock, a winner of 15 PDC Women’s Series titles since the tour’s inception in 2020, also celebrated victory in the inaugural Betfred Women’s World Matchplay at the Winter Gardens in July 2022.

More recently, she became the first woman to hit a nine-dart finish in a PDC event, after achieving perfection on the Winmau Challenge Tour back in March.

The 29-year-old is the latest darts star to be awarded an MBE, joining illustrious company in former World Champions Eric Bristow and John Lowe and fellow female star Trina Gulliver in receiving the honour.

“This means a lot,” said Sherrock, who joined former England footballer Eni Aluko, ex-boxer Johnny Nelson and triathlete Non Stanford in receiving their medals.

“I was so proud for myself and darts to meet the Prince of Wales and to receive my MBE from him.

“I have never been so nervous! Thank you to everyone who has helped me get to where I am. I’m very, very happy.”

Sherrock will return to competitive action at the upcoming Mr Vegas Grand Slam of Darts, which takes place in Wolverhampton from November 11-19.

The former Women’s World Matchplay champion enjoyed a stunning end to the season to seal her qualification, winning four straight PDC Women’s Series titles during a remarkable 29-match winning run.

Sherrock will also make her fourth Paddy Power World Darts Championship appearance in December, as she makes her highly-anticipated Alexandra Palace return alongside Japan’s Mikuru Suzuki.
