The star-studded cast of players set to compete in the 2024 Bahrain Darts Masters continues to take shape, as three-time World Champion Michael van Gerwen becomes the latest big name confirmed for January's showpiece.

A 16-player field will compete in the opening World Series of Darts event in 2024, as eight PDC stars come up against eight Asian representatives on January 18-19 at the Bahrain International Circuit (BIC).

BIC and CBX have teamed up with the PDC to bring the World Series of Darts back to Bahrain in partnership with Bahrain Tourism and Exhibition Authority, with the Dome tent hosting the two-day event.

World number two Van Gerwen will make his Bahrain bow in January, where he will be joined by reigning World Champion Michael Smith, who won the tournament's inaugural staging earlier this year.

Former World Champions Peter Wright and Gerwyn Price will also star in the event - the first of seven World Series of Darts tournaments to be held across the globe in 2024.

Dutch superstar Van Gerwen is the most successful player in World Series of Darts history, and he followed up wins in New York and Warsaw in 2023 by cliching his fifth World Series of Darts Finals crown back in September.

The remaining four PDC players and the eight Asian representatives competing in the 2024 Bahrain Darts Masters will be confirmed in due course.
