Luke Humphries received further recognition for his Paddy Power World Darts Championship triumph when he was invited to meet Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.

Humphries completed his rise to world number one with a thrilling World Championship triumph at Alexandra Palace on Wednesday, claiming his fourth televised title inside three months.

The 28-year-old's success has seen him earn global headlines, and following an initial congratulatory social media post from the Prime Minister, Humphries was invited to visit 10 Downing Street on Friday.

Humphries discussed his victory over teenage sensation Luke Littler in the final, and also gave the Prime Minister a darts lesson.

"It is a privilege of course," Humphries told the Press Association. "These are not things you get to do every day, it was a privilege to be invited, this is massive for our sport.

"I have got a duty as the flagbearer of darts at the moment.

"We just talked about sport, nothing else really. He wanted to congratulate me on the success, he enjoyed the game and it really is important for figures to be coming in and enjoying our sport."
