Harrysson confirms World Darts Championship qualification

Andreas Harrysson (PDC Europe)

Andreas Harrysson will make his Paddy Power World Darts Championship debut later this year, after securing his third PDC Nordic & Baltic ProTour title of 2025 in Denmark at the weekend.

The year’s fifth weekend of Nordic & Baltic action saw Events 9-10 take place at the Slangerup Dartklub, as Harrysson shared the spoils with his Swedish compatriot Daniel Larsson.

Larsson defeated his fellow countryman Edwin Torbjornsson in Saturday’s Event Nine showpiece, overturning a 5-4 deficit to secure his first Nordic & Baltic title since March 2023.

Larsson also edged out Sweden’s World Cup star Oskar Lukasiak on his way to glory, and after averaging 99 to demolish Viktor Tingstrom in the last eight, he swept aside Marko Kantele 6-3 in the semi-finals.

However, Harrysson rounded off the ProTour double-header with Event Ten success on Sunday, sealed with a dramatic deciding-leg victory over Lukasiak in another all-Swedish affair.

The 50-year-old also won through deciding-leg ties against Tonni Sorensen and Kantele respectively in the latter stages, having recorded earlier wins over Anton Ostlund and Johan Engstrom.

Harrysson’s latest triumph has confirmed his qualification for the upcoming World Darts Championship, which will take place at London’s Alexandra Palace.

With just two events remaining in Norway next month, Harrysson is guaranteed a top-two finish on the Nordic & Baltic ProTour Order of Merit, with Lukasiak currently his closest challenger.

Finland’s World Cup of Darts duo Marko Kantele and Teemu Harju occupy third and fourth positions respectively, as Scandinavia’s biggest names prepare to do battle in Events 11-12 from August 1-3.

Last weekend’s action also saw qualifiers for European Tour Events 10-11 take place, as Engstrom and Lithuania’s Darius Labanauskas confirmed their big stage returns.

Engstrom averaged 101.27 to dispatch Harrysson 6-2 in Friday’s ET10 decider, as he booked his place in next month’s Flanders Darts Trophy in Antwerp.

Meanwhile, former World Championship quarter-finalist Labanauskas ran out a 6-4 winner against Finland’s Jonas Masalin to seal his spot in September’s Czech Darts Open (ET11).
