Tim Pusey claimed two titles on the DartPlayers Australia ProTour at the weekend, as Joe Comito retained his lead at top of the Order of Merit.
The Warilla Bowls and Recreation Club in New South Wales was the host of rounds 13-15 on the 13-15 July, with the year’s penultimate DPA ProTour weekend being staged.
ProTour leader Comito made the finals in two of the three tournaments, picking up one title along the way against with a 6-4 win over Pusey in Saturday’s Event 13, averaging 89.68 in the decider.
In Event 14, Tim Pusey played the top three ranked players in the DPA Order of Merit in his final three matches on the road to victory, beating second-placed James Bailey 6-1 in the semi-finals with an impressive average of 98.42.
The 32-year-old then went on to win the final, which went down to a decider against Brandon Weening – with Pusey coming from 5-3 down to take victory, hitting back-to-back 14-darters in the final two legs.
Pusey attracted another good run in Sunday’s Event 15, seeing off Brody Klinge in the quarter-finals for a second successive day before beating Gordon Mathers 3-1 in sets with a 94.12 average in the semis.
Pusey then had a landslide 3-0 victory over Saturday’s Event 13 winner Comito to claim his second title of the weekend.
With the Melbourne ace picking up two out of the three titles over the weekend, he is now closing the gap on number one Comito in the battle to qualify for the Paddy Power World Darts Championship, with only one weekend left in August to make the cut.
The weekend began as Mathers claimed victory in the fourth SkyCity NZ Darts Masters Qualifier, beating Pusey 5-0 to secure his spot in August’s event in Auckland.
Comito, Klinge, Pusey and Weening all qualify to play in the KenoGO Australian Darts Masters from a 12-month ranking table, with Bailey taking a fifth qualifying place as the top-ranked non-qualified player from the 2025 DPA Order of Merit to compete in Wollongong.
