Home comforts inspiring Heta's World Series challenge Down Under

Damon Heta (PDC)

Damon Heta is relishing the chance to be back on stage in front of home crowds in Australia and New Zealand over the next fortnight.

Australian number one Heta will be one of the headline stars as the World Series of Darts visit Wollongong and Auckland for the last two global events of 2025.

Heta was last year's runner-up in the New Zealand Darts Masters, while he made his breakthrough with triumph in the 2019 Brisbane Darts Masters.

The former World Cup of Darts champion has enjoyed a break back home in Perth ahead of the World Series double-header, and admitted: "It's great to come back home.

"it's a massive one for me and I get to play in front of a home crowd as well. It's such a great feeling - I've got family in New Zealand too."

Speaking to Sport Nation NZ - a partner of the SkyCity New Zealand Darts Masters - Heta also discussed the approach he has taken to the sport, having left behind his trade as a roofer before surging into the world's top ten.

He added: "I practice pretty much every day, and not only that but [I have] a bit of discipline - my eating habits are pretty good, and then I like to get out there and go for a run of put a bit of cardio in.

"I just think about everything that's on offer and where I've come from - roofing. I'm taking advantage of where I am and taking it for all it is."

The KenoGO Australian Darts Masters will be played on August 8-9 at the WIN Entertainment Centre, Wollongong.
