Charlie Manby clinched his maiden Winmau Development Tour title on Friday, whilst Jamai van den Herik added to his PDC title tally with his victory in Wigan.
The penultimate weekend of Development Tour action saw a double-header take place at Robin Park Leisure Centre in Wigan, with Manby emerging through a 278-player field to claim Event 16 in Friday’s opener.
The 20-year-old - having made a Development Tour final earlier on in the year - was able to claim his maiden PDC title, beating current Tour Card holder Owen Bates in a last-leg decider to clinch the Event 16 title.
Bates raced into a 3-0 lead, opening his account with a 12-dart leg, but it was Manby who would shine through, as he won five out of the next six legs to triumph with an average just over 93.
Manby - who averaged a staggering 130.70 on the Development Tour earlier this year - raced into round five for the loss of just two legs, as the Huddersfield born star beat Kieran Thompson, Aidan O'Hara, Keanu Van Velzen and Josh Jones, before beating Jack Drayton 4-2 to make it into the quarter-finals.
The 22-year-old then dispatched of Dutchman and Event 17 winner Van den Herik 5-4, before beating Beau Greaves 5-3 to progress to his second Development Tour final of 2025.
Greaves herself posted two ton-plus averages in Event 16 with wins over Daniel Perry and Daniel Shala, but it was Rohan Brouwers who delivered the highest average of the event, averaging 108.13 in his round five encounter.
Van den Herik stole the headlines in Event 17, as the two-time winner on the Winmau Challenge Tour picked up his maiden Winmau Development Tour title, courtesy of a 5-1 victory over Cam Crabtree in the final.
Van den Herik’s passage to glory began in routine style, as he whitewashed Micha Boekelaar while also denying Alfie Busby, Jurjen van der Velde and Viktor Tingstrom early on in the competiton.
The Dutchman then edged out compatriot Jarno Bottenberg, before battling through a last-leg decider against Liam Maendl-Lawrance to book his place in the semi-finals.
The 22-year-old was too strong for Jack Gillett in the last four, running out a 5-1 winner against the Englishman, who enjoyed an impressive run to his first PDC semi-final.
The Watford-born star saw off the likes of Owen Carr, Levy Frauenfelder, Keenan Thomas and Sebastian Bialecki to break new ground in Wigan, before succumbing to a clinical Van den Herik.
The 2025 Winmau Development Tour season continues with Events 18-19 on Saturday, before the weekend's action concludes on Sunday with Event 20.
The top two players from the 2025 Development Tour rankings will each win a PDC Tour Card for 2026-27, while the top three ranked players will earn a place in the 2025/26 Paddy Power World Darts Championship.
Cam Crabtree now boasts a £300 lead over his closest challenger Beau Greaves on the Development Tour rankings, with Owen Bates, Manby and Sebastian Bialecki making up the current top five.
