Damon Heta has become the latest PDC star to support the Darts on Your Doorstep initiative, in association with Smart Energy GB, after opening a new darts facility at the Enderby & District Social Club.

The PDC in the Community scheme was launched last year, with grassroots darts facilities receiving a makeover alongside an information session, hosted by Smart Energy GB.

Darts on Your Doorstep has been a popular success around Britain, with Heta following in the footsteps of Luke Humphries, Chris Dobey and Jonny Clayton with a special appearance to open a new facility.

Damon Heta joined PDC chief executive Matt Porter and Smart Energy GB at the Enderby & District Social Club in Leicestershire for Monday's launch - a week ahead of the 2025 BOYLE Sports World Grand Prix at Leicester's Mattioli Arena begins.

The Australian star - who won the 2022 World Cup of Darts - took part in a Q&A with club members and challenged local players at the renovated darts venue.

"It's great to represent the PDC and Darts on Your Doorstep," said Heta. "It's a grassroots sport and it's good to see the investment that's being made by Smart Energy GB and the PDC.

"Clubs like this are where so many players begin playing darts and it makes me appreciate where I am and how far I've come.

"It's outstanding to see and it's a massive scheme - it will create opportunities for so many players."

Since November 2024, almost 50 clubs across the UK have enjoyed new darts facilities - including new Winmau Blade 6 dartboards - and over a thousand individuals have enjoyed Smart Energy GB information sessions. These sessions provide attendees with smart meters facts and their role in helping consumers manage their energy use in the home.

Attendees at the Enderby & District Social Club – which is part of the Central England Darts League, hosts the South Leicestershire Darts Academy and a disability darts league amongst activity on four nights a week - also enjoyed a Smart Energy GB information session during the launch.

Phillippa Brown, Deputy Director of Specialist Audiences at Smart Energy GB, says of the partnership: "Local darts clubs play an important role in communities all over the country.

"Projects like this, that provide improved facilities and equipment, are vital to make sure they are able to thrive and harness community spirit for years to come.

"It's also really important to use these opportunities to help the people in those communities manage the high cost of living.

"We hope the information sessions will give people real, actionable advice to help them manage their finances, and see how a smart meter could help them to save a little money on their energy bills."

The Smart Energy GB Darts Challenge is also taking place as part of the Darts on Your Doorstep scheme, with the top-performing clubs throughout the year winning a money-can't-buy dart-fitting experience from Winmau, the PDC's official equipment supplier.

PDC Chief Executive Matt Porter said: "Darts on Your Doorstep has been a big success since being launched last November, and it's great to see clubs around the UK benefitting from the scheme.

"It's wonderful to continue working with Smart Energy GB to promote the use of smart meters across Britain,  as well as transforming the darts facilities of grassroots venues.

"Venues such as the Enderby & District Social Club are the hub of their community, and darts plays a huge role for so many of the club's members."
