Ross Smith has moved up to 12th position on the PDC Werner Rankings Ladder after clinching his second ProTour title of 2025 on Wednesday.
Leicester’s Mattioli Arena played host to a Players Championship treble-header this week, as Smith denied World Cup champion Josh Rock in a gripping decider to triumph at Players Championship 29.
The former European Champion also whitewashed Michael van Gerwen en route to glory in the East Midlands, before running out an 8-7 winner against Rock to clinch his seventh PDC ranking title.
Smith has subsequently climbed two places on the Werner Rankings Ladder, overhauling two-time World Champion Gary Anderson and Dutch number two Danny Noppert to close in on a place in the world’s top ten.
Ryan Searle remains in 19th, despite landing his second ranking title of the campaign with victory in Tuesday’s Players Championship 28.
Searle overcame Belgium’s Mario Vandenbogaerde to take the title, before losing out to eventual champion Wessel Nijman in the semi-finals of Players Championship 30.
Nijman produced a string of superb performances to prevail in Leicester, dispatching Australian number one Damon Heta 8-3 to rise one place to world number 38.
It was also a landmark week for Nijman’s fellow Dutchman Gian van Veen, who has broken into the world’s top 16 for the first time.
The World Youth Champion is now up to a career-high of world number 15, having climbed above the trio of Peter Wright, Martin Schindler and Dave Chisnall.
