Crabtree tops Winmau Development Tour rankings as duo share final titles

Cam Crabtree (PDC)

Cam Crabtree clinched top spot on the Winmau Development Tour rankings to confirm his place in next month’s Mr Vegas Grand Slam of Darts, as the 2025 Development Tour season drew to a close in Wigan.

Sunday’s double-header saw Events 23-24 take place at the Robin Park Leisure Centre, with Dutchman Jamai van den Herik and Germany's Leon Weber sharing the spoils on an action-packed day of darts.

Crabtree celebrated his fifth Development Tour title of the year in Saturday's Event 22, which saw him establish a cushion of almost £3,200 over his closest challenger Beau Greaves.

Greaves averaged a staggering 111.33 in her second game on Sunday, but her Event 23 defeat to Zac Griffiths ensured that Crabtree could not be caught at the Development Tour summit.

Crabtree will now make his Grand Slam of Darts debut in Wolverhampton next month, as he continues to build on his strong start to life as a Tour Card Holder in 2025.

The race for Paddy Power World Darts Championship qualification and the battle to secure two-year Tour Cards also dominated the headlines in Wigan, where over 280 players were competing in each event.

Greaves, who finished runner-up on the Development Tour rankings, secured her Tour Card on Saturday, and she will be joined on the professional circuit in 2026-27 by Owen Bates, who finished the campaign in third position.

The top three players on the Development Tour rankings are also assured of places at the 2025/26 World Darts Championship, which gets underway at Alexandra Palace on December 11.

With Crabtree poised to qualify from the ProTour rankings, the three World Championship places from the Development Tour are set to go to Greaves, Owen Bates and Charlie Manby.

However, with Bates also in a provisional ProTour qualifying place, Van den Herik - who finished fifth on the Development Tour - may also secure a World Championship debut in December.

Van den Herik kicked off Sunday’s play with Event 23 victory in Wigan, overcoming Cayden Smith in a last-leg decider to secure his second Development Tour title of the season.

The young Dutchman won through deciding-leg ties against Patrik Williams and Mitchell Leeming on his way to glory, before seeing off Nunjo Dewaele and Rohan Brouwers in the latter stages.

Weber then stormed to the Event 24 crown, toppling Greaves in the semi-finals before averaging almost 103 to whitewash Czech star Adam Gawlas in merciless fashion.

The 22-year-old also accounted for Dutch trio Stef Kosters, Jarno Bottenberg and Keanu van Velzen earlier in the event, having dumped out former UK Open qualifier Thomas Banks in round three.

Following the culmination of this year’s Winmau Development Tour season, the early rounds of the Winmau World Youth Championship will take place on Monday afternoon in Wigan.

The 2025 World Youth Championship final will then be played on Sunday November 23 during the Ladbrokes Players Championship Finals in Minehead, as two players compete for televised silverware.
