Greaves extends record-breaking run; Van Leuven & Hayter seal WC spots

Beau Greaves (PDC)

Record-breaker Beau Greaves extended her staggering winning streak on the PDC Women’s Series to 86 matches as she claimed the final two titles of the season in Wigan on Sunday, while Noa-Lynn van Leuven and Gemma Hayter secured Paddy Power World Championship qualification.

Greaves broke her own record of consecutive wins with back-to-back successes on Saturday, and she maintained her remarkable run with another terrific double at the Robin Park Leisure Centre - taking her tally to 13 successive events and 86 games.

The Doncaster darter kicked off Event 23 with a hat-trick of whitewash wins, including a ton-topping average in her four-leg demolition of Felicia Blay.

Following a deciding-leg victory over Karolina Ratajska, Greaves averaged over 105 to dispatch Lisa Ashton in the quarter-finals, before overcoming her great rival Fallon Sherrock in the last four.

Greaves fired in an 11-darter to wrap up a 5-3 victory over Sherrock, and she continued that ruthless form to whitewash Hayter and secure the Event 23 crown.

The 21-year-old continued from where she left off in Event 24, averaging more than 107 in demolishing Laura van den Berg, a result which she backed up with 4-0 wins against Courtney Hine and Hannah Meek.

Greaves conceded a solitary leg in reaching the Event 24 showpiece, overcoming Laura Turner, Aoife McCormack and Rhian O’Sullivan to set up a winner-takes-all clash against Van Leuven.

Van Leuven produced some clinical finishing to level the contest at three apiece, only for Greaves to produce an 11-dart break followed by a 14-dart hold to add another title to her extensive CV.

“To win the last four events is a great end to the season,” reflected Greaves, who last tasted defeat on the PDC Women’s Series circuit back in April.

“It’s a great achievement. It’s a lot of darts to throw and a lot of games to win, so it’s nice.

“I absolutely love playing, I love the competitiveness of it all, so that drives me on.”

Greaves’ darting dominance has seen her win 18 of the year’s 24 Women’s Series events – including each of the last 13.

She also finished second on the Winmau Development Tour rankings to secure a Tour Card for 2026/27 and reached the Winmau World Youth Championship final last Monday.

“It’s amazing to have a Tour Card and now I’m looking forward to a busy end to the year,” continued Greaves, who registered four ton-plus averages across the day.

“I know it’s going to be tough but that’s what I signed up for, and I just want to give it a good go.”

Van Leuven and Hayter also had plenty to celebrate in Wigan, as they sealed their World Darts Championship qualification alongside Greaves, Ashton and Sherrock.

Ashton confirmed her Alexandra Palace return by winning the Betfred Women’s World Matchplay in July, while Greaves’ exploits on the Development Tour ensured there were a further three qualification spots available on the Women’s Series rankings.

Sherrock was already assured of her place prior to this weekend, and the Milton Keynes trailblazer will be joined by Van Leuven and Hayter in the sport’s flagship event.

Van Leuven will compete in a second successive World Championship, having won back-to-back titles in April on her way to finishing fourth on the overall rankings.

Hayter, meanwhile, will make her Alexandra Palace bow having featured in a trio of Women’s Series finals this year, which was enough to guarantee a fifth-place finish.

Greaves, meanwhile, will compete in next month's Mr Vegas Grand Slam of Darts as the Women's Series table-topper for 2025, while the top eight players from the final standings are invited to the 2026 Winmau World Masters Preliminary Rounds.
