The 2025 Machineseeker European Championship begins on Thursday, as former champions Michael van Gerwen, Peter Wright and Ross Smith headline Day One in Dortmund.

Thursday's opening night will see eight Round One matches take place at the Westfalenhalle, as Van Gerwen begins his bid for a record fifth European Championship crown against his fellow countryman Wessel Nijman.

Wright and Smith also go head-to-head in a battle of the former champions, while German number one Martin Schindler makes his return to home soil against Dave Chisnall.

Third seed Stephen Bunting faces world number eight Chris Dobey, 2019 runner-up Gerwyn Price renews his rivalry with two-time semi-finalist Daryl Gurney, before Price's World Cup partner Jonny Clayton goes up against Ryan Searle.

Elsewhere, World Youth Champion Gian van Veen and Australian number one Damon Heta go head-to-head in a repeat of their 2023 showdown, with Ryan Joyce kicking off Thursday's action against 2024 semi-finalist Luke Woodhouse.

The Machineseeker European Championship will be broadcast live on ITV in the UK, through the PDC's worldwide broadcast partners including DAZN and Viaplay, and on PDCTV (excluding subscribers based in the UK, Germany, Austria & Switzerland).
